Starr pledges better community involvement as Baylor president

Posted:

Ken Starr officially took over as the new president of Baylor University on Tuesday. He met with faculty, staff, and students on the steps of Pat Neff Hall.

Starr is probably best known as the independent counsel, whose report on President Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky, led to Clinton's impeachment.

He says he is proud to be Baylor's 14th president and pledged greater community involvement between the university and Waco.

"I am going to make it very clear to the community of students here, that we need to be in the community," Starr said. "There are many other things that Baylor is doing to make sure that there is in fact a close partnership with community and with the university."

Starr also wants to make college more affordable, by getting more scholarships for Baylor students.
