Copperas Cove business provides Thanksgiving dinner, supplies to families

Babies N Things in Copperas Cove celebrated their ten year anniversary by giving back to the community they said has helped them stay open for the past decade.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Thanksgiving is right around the corner and most are preparing their checklist for what they need Thursday. One local shop in Copperas Cove helped out some families by providing it all for them.

"I'm a grandma and I'm raising my grandkids, so it's a little bit of a challenge and what they are doing for us is really really greatly appreciated and very very needed," Constance Lattimore said.

The shop Babies-N-Things was celebrating their ten year anniversary.

"We decided if we made it ten years that we would do a hundred families, but fortunately we have been able to exceed that goal and we will be giving out meals to 137 families today," Owner Tashsa Roberts said.

She said the dry goods were donated items along with some of the turkeys, but most of the turkeys she purchased. Roberts said they received the names of families they gave tickets to by reaching out to local organizations and the school district to find families that displayed a need.

"I can't even explain the feeling that it gives me because we are no different than any other small struggling business during this time, but I made a commitment and I am going to see that commitment through to make sure that I'm able to help these families in the same time of need," Roberts said.

Roberts said she felt the best way to celebrate the business was to give back because she said they would not have made it ten years without the customers in the community. This is not the first time the store has given back. Roberts said during the five year anniversary they were able to feed fifty families.
