Law enforcement divers were searching Tuesday for the murder weapon detectives believe a 26-year-old man used to shoot and kill his 1-year-old biological daughter and the baby's 24-year-old mother in early November.

Divers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Game Wardens Office were combing the Brazos River near Loop 340/Highway 6 Tuesday morning and afternoon searching for what one warden described as a .22 caliber handgun.

Law enforcement told Channel 6 News Reporter Jasmin Caldwell that the search could last three days. The homicide investigation was being led by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

Christopher Paul Weiss was arrested earlier this month on two counts of capital murder and booked into the McLennan County Jail on one million dollars bond. As McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara has previously stated, Weiss had no significant prior criminal history.

Weiss is accused of shooting and killing Valarie Martinez, 24, and her 1-year-old daughter Azariah. They were found dead at McLennan County Road Park 3 on Tradinghouse Lake.
