(KCEN) -- Several decaying and decomposing canines were found at a McGregor residence on Tuesday.

At 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the McGregor Police received a call complaining about a smell of decay coming from a residence in the 100 block of Rodgers Street.

After the police arrived, they also noticed the smell. They located decaying flesh and blood remains of a canine inside of a trash bin.

Upon further search of the residence, police uncovered several decaying and decomposing canines that had been chained to trees. Several canine bones were also located in the field behind the residence.

A search warrant was obtained. Scales, packaging material, ledger notes, plastic bags with residue and a small amount of marijuana were seized. Police also found that residents tampered with the water meter and had been obtaining utilities illegally.

Arrest warrants are expected to be filed at a later date.

The names of the suspects are being withheld pending further investigation.
