In light of the recent school shooting in Florida, Channel 6 is hosting an online forum with Central Texas educators to discuss their thoughts about how to best protect our students and discourage violence.
The conversation, titled "Arming Our Schools," won't just focus on the possibility of arming teachers with weapons to defend against active shooters. It will also focus on arming school districts with knowledge from the educators who interact with our students on a daily basis. Warning signs they see might help identify possible threats and prevent violence.
The forum will be live streamed on the KCEN-TV Facebook page and KCENTV.com. Viewers joining the Facebook feed will be able to ask questions in real time.
Channel 6 News Evening Anchors Doug Currin and Leslie Draffin will moderate the discussion, which will feature teachers from a handful of Central Texas school districts.
