Accidental fire quickly spreads and destroys home in Bell County

A welding situation turned into a fire in Bell County.

Nobody was hurt after an accidental fire spread like wildfire in Bell County on Monday.

Bell County Fire Marshal Steve Casey said a welder lost control of his work in the 6700 block of Sparta Road, and high winds quickly pushed flames across the neighborhood.

The blaze destroyed one woman's home and went around another person's home, according to firefighters. Luckily, no residents were home at the time.

Central Bell County firefighters worked with volunteer firefighters from Sparta and Morgan's Point Resort to extinguish the fire Monday afternoon.

The intersection of FM 439 and Sparta Road were temporarily blocked off to drivers.
