7-month-old at center of AMBER Alert found safe, mother in custody, police say

The AMBER Alert had been issued after the child was taken on Thursday morning. The child was found safe on Friday afternoon.

ENNIS, Texas — Updated Friday after the child was found.

The child at the center of an AMBER Alert was found safe on Friday, Ennis police said, one day after the 7-month-old boy was taken from his father at gunpoint.

Faith Reid, 20, and Marcus Nast, 25, were suspected of abducting the boy in the 900 block of N Shawnee Street around 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, officials said.

Reid, Nast, and the baby were found in Parker County on Friday around 4:35 p.m. During a traffic stop of a pickup that matched the police description, police found Reid and the baby, but Nast evaded officers, according to interim Ennis Police Chief David J. Anthony.

The 7-month-old boy was unharmed, police said.

Reid, who is the child's mother, faces a kidnapping charge, and more charges could come, officials said.

No court has ruled on custody of the child, but Reid was not involved in the child's life in the last few months, the chief said.

Police said Reid and Nast showed up at the home of the child's father Thursday morning. The pair kicked in the door, displayed a firearm, assaulted the father, and took the child, Anthony said.

"That kind of violence shouldn't be around a 7-month-old," Anthony said.

The child's father, Joey Ramirez, gave chase but lost the pair.

Ramirez told WFAA on Thursday that he was using the restroom when someone came into his home and the baby.

He said he fought the man, later identified as Nast, outside but gave up after a gun was pointed at him.

"Words can't describe it," Ramirez said. "I don't think she cares about the kid at all and did this because she hates me. I never thought somebody would steal my child from my own home with me there."

Authorities said they were traveling in a white 2010 Ford F-150 pickup with Texas license plate No. GRD5538.
