A Baylor student was one of two people who died in a small plane crash in Laredo on March 8.
Student Robert Marshall, 19, and Laredo pastor Dr. Kelle David Hein, 56, died after smoke began billowing from the aircraft, which took a nose dive and burst into flames, according to Laredo NBC affiliate KGNS-TV.
"Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and fellow students," Baylor Aviation wrote in a statement on Monday. "We will keep him always in our hearts."
The aviation program also shared a poem in memory of Marshall.
Dr. Hein was a South Dakota native, who became a flight instructor and commercial pilot, according to his obituary. He had ties to Central Texas, too. He married his wife of more than three decades in Waco in 1985, the obituary said. A person who knew him said he graduated from TSTC pilot training.
The crash was under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
