Baylor Title IX Coordinator Kristan Tucker resigns

Baylor University Title IX Coordinator Kristan Tucker has resigned from her position effective Jan. 2.

Tucker joined the Title IX Office in January 2016 as the senior deputy Title IX coordinator. Nine months later, Title IX Coordinator Patty Crawford resigned and went on national television to say the University had failed to adequately address sexual assault.

Tucker was later chosen to take over Crawford's responsibilities and to help oversee the implementation of the 105 recommendations made by law firm Pepper Hamilton in response to the sexual assault scandal that plagued the school.

"During her time at Baylor, Ms. Tucker worked with a team of professionals and attorneys to implement many changes to Baylor's Title IX processes and policies on behalf of students," the University wrote in a statement. "The University is grateful for her technical expertise, her support of ongoing strategic initiatives and overall service to Baylor and other campus partners."

Baylor did not offer a reason for Tucker's resignation.

The University said the shakeup would not impact the office's operations. Baylor said Maureen Holland, consulting member of the international legal firm Cozen O'Connor, would serve as interim Title IX Coordinator until a replacement is found.
