Channel 6 News and Clem Mikeska's presented our winning family with a Thanksgiving feast this week, as part of our #6Giving contest.

Marty Knight nominated her neighbor Jannie Tallarigo and her three adopted children -- the oldest of whom, Raphael, is bedridden. The 12-year-old suffers from Schizencephaly -- a rare congenital brain malformation that means he requires around-the-clock care.

After Tallarigo's husband passed away from cancer in 2011, she "adopted" two friends to come live in her house as the children's "grandparents" to help with their care. Recently, the adopted grandfather, Jon, developed mobility issues that prevent him from driving.

When a nurse is not available, Jannie often watches over Raphael for the entire night.

Clem Mikeska and his daughter Anna Mikeska-Payne delivered a turkey, ham, side dishes, pies and drinks to the family Wednesday, along with a gift card and some sausages, which were thrown in as a bonus.

“When we were approached to be part of this project. It was a no-brainer," Anna said. "We were so excited.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! And, Happy Thanksgiving!
