The Killeen Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire that broke out shortly after 2:00 p.m. Monday at 1202 North College Street.
Six apartments received damage. One apartment was a total loss, two were damaged by flames, and three more received smoke and heat damage.
Three families living in the apartment complex were in contact with first responders. However, it was unknown how many people were displaced, in total, because fire crews were not sure if all six apartments were occupied.
Firefighters from Killeen and Fort Hood Station 3 were dispatched at 2:24 p.m. Upon arrival, they saw heavy smoke and flames three to five feet high.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
