Lampasas Police catch, arrest Dollar General robbery suspect

Police said the suspect confessed to the robbery.

A Lampasas man suspected of robbing a Lampasas Dollar General Sunday evening was taken into police custody.

According to the Lampasas Police Department, around 6:02 p.m., officers received a call from an employee saying he or she had been robbed. Based on the suspect's description, officers tracked him down on East 3rd Street -- running toward Key Avenue. Police identified the suspect as 20-year-year-old Timothy Charles Thurman Jr.

One officer ran after Thurman. The officer, along with a patrol sergeant, caught him without incident.

Police said Thurman confessed he committed the robbery, and officers recovered money believed to be from the Dollar General. Thurman was taken to the Lampasas Jail and charged with robbery and evading arrest or detention.

Following the arrest, officers were told by store employees that Thurman claimed he had a knife while demanding money but never produced a weapon. No weapons were recovered from him either.
