A 32-year-old man died at Darnall Army Medical Center Friday morning after he was shot in the back during a drive-by shooting around 4:41 a.m. in the 5300 block of Allegany Drive in Killeen, according to KPD Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez.

The victim was identified late Friday morning as Glenroy Joseph Smith, Jr., who was earlier pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 6:49 a.m. Investigators said Smith's family members called 911 to report he had been shot.

Although three adults and five children were with Smith in the house when the bullet pierced the wall and struck him, Killeen Police said no other injuries were reported. An autopsy for Smith was ordered and will be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas, Miramontez said.

As of late Friday morning, there were no suspects identified, according to Killeen Police. There was a camera attached to a neighbor's home, however, and detectives were combing through the footage, according to police.

Anyone with any information that could help detectives investigate the murder was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online by clicking here. If your tip leads to the arrest of the shooter, you could be paid a cash reward of up to $1,000.
