Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg will visit Fort Hood in May.

Sandberg will be the special guest speaker at a Military Spouse Appreciation Day celebration on May 12 in the Palmer Theater at 2 p.m. Tickets are free and available to all DoD ID card holders.

On Thursday, Sandberg, who recently authored a new book called Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy, announced she was launching a non-profit that would help families cope with grief and adversity.

Sandberg, who has also worked at Google, was the first woman to serve on Facebook's Board of Directors.

To get tickets, visit the Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center Building, which is located at 18000 Battalion Ave. The building is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be obtained at the Family and MWR Marketing and Advertising Department Building, which is located at 194 37th Street on post. The building is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
