One victim died in a serious crash on I-35 in Troy around 8:16 p.m. on Sunday.

DPS Sgt. D.L. Wilson said a tanker truck clipped a pick-up truck with two people inside on the northbound side of the highway near mile marker 314. The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was extricated and transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Sgt. Wilson said the deceased driver was a 59-year-old man and the injured passenger was a 56-year-old woman. Her injuries were not life-threatening, Sgt. Wilson said.

The names of the victims were not released Sunday because their families had not yet been located.

A 24-year-old man from Mexia was driving the tanker truck, which was hauling gasoline from Killeen to Waco. He was not hurt, and no leaks were reported.

First responders from Troy, Bruceville-Eddy, Lorena and Falls County were all dispatched to the scene.

I-35 was reduced to one lane, causing traffic delays, for much of Sunday night. Traffic was back to normal by 11:30 p.m.
