NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- It’s a sad day for Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort as its founder, Bob Henry, has passed away.
In a Facebook post, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels said Mr. Bob passed away Monday night.
The post describes him as a brilliant businessman as well as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and even great-grandfather.
Mr. Bob and his wife Billye moved to New Braunfels 50 years ago where they wanted to start a business the whole family could be involved. They took over a small camp and over time built it into what is now one of the most beloved water parks and resorts in the world. But it all started with family.
“My father, from the very start, hoped to have a family business where he and his children could work together,” said Gary Henry, president of Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts, and eldest son. “All of us will miss him dearly. We will miss his leadership, his guidance, and his insights. We are blessed that he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and commitment to those who both those who work here and to generations of guests who have made memories in the parks he made possible.”
The family appreciates fans and friends sharing fond memories of Mr. Bob on the company’s Facebook page.
