Several I-35 road closures to happen this month for new pavement, bridge demolition

I-35 southbound in Temple will close Thursday night to begin new pavement placement and later this month, the remaining old Adams Avenue bridge will be demolished. Waco will also have a closure for bridge demolition.

Southbound I-35 in Temple will close Thursday night for new pavement placement.

From 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12 to 7 a.m. Friday, April 13, I-35 southbound will close between N. Loop 363 and Spur 290, as crews lay new pavement for the mainlanes and shoulders north of Spur 290.

Southbound mainlane traffic will exit off I-35 to the access road at Exit 303 Spur 290/ Industrial Blvd. / 3rd St.), and reenter the I-35 mainlanes just south of the new US 290 intersection.

Demolition

Temple

From 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21 to noon Sunday, April 22, both northbound and southbound directions on I-35 will close at the Central/Adams intersection in Temple.

TxDOT said the contractor plans to demolish the remaining Adams Ave. bridge over I-35 as well as install items for new directional signs and message boards.

Drivers will not be allowed on the mainlanes through the work zones for their safety.

TxDOT recommends drivers to seek alternate routes during the repairs.

Waco

From 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14 to 10 a.m. Sunday, April 15, all I-35 mainlanes will close for crews to demolish the old Forrest Street Bridge.

Loop 340 will be available as an alternative route.
