Bell County residents had the chance Monday to have their views heard on the issues that will be discussed at Tuesday’s legislature special session.
State representative Hugh Shine held the forum and gave people a chance to speak with him directly.
As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Shine said he hopes to put a spotlight on property tax and help give back to tax payers.
“That’s why I’ve already drafted the unfunded mandate resolution, that’s why we’re looking at the local homestead options,” Shine said. “to try to get some relief to the local tax payers.”
Bell County Rancher Nolan Kinsey said he only wants to pay his part.
“I want to only pay my part,” he said. “When you freeze taxed for example, it should be frozen.”
The special session currently has 20 items to be heard and 30 days to get passed.
