Take to the sky in rare WWII aircraft to experience what troops did in 1944

Today, there is only one B-24 Liberator flying in the world.

The B-24 Liberator Heavy Bomber was the ship that made headlines and was affectionately known among flyers as the lib.

Today, there is only one B-24 Liberator flying in the world, and it is in Waco this week available for tours and flights. The plane tours serve as a reminder of the most destructive war in history and to honor those who fought.

For those lucky enough to go up in the air, the public can fly in the bomber and get a taste of what it was like for those soldiers back in 1944 heading for enemy territory.

Able to carry more than 8,000 pounds of bombs and with a range of 3,000 miles, the B-24 Liberator was the most widely used bomber of the second world war, and this particular aircraft saw action over the Pacific and Europe.

As part of the Wings of Freedom Tour in Waco, the public has the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with not only the lib but also the famous B-17 bomber, a P-51 Mustang and Huey Helicopter.

The Wings of Freedom Tour is happening between March 12-15 at Waco Regional Airport, out of the Waco Jet Center.
