A local cemetery is on the hook for over 50 thousand dollars after a thief stole more than 70 bronze vases from them, it happened at Waco Memorial Cemetery. Robinson police say this isn't the first time Waco memorial has been hit. Officers say a similar amount of bronze vases were stolen from them a few years back.
The vases are worth about 700 dollars each. Police say scrap metal is a popular item and that thieves will steal it and then sell it to turn a quick profit. Officers say it's possible neighboring cemetery Chapel Hill was hit as well. The Robinson Police Department released a statement to Channel 6 News about the incident saying in part
"We are still waiting on family and grounds keepers to notify us if they discover vases missing from area cemeteries. It's just sad that someone would take a loving memorial just to make money" says Robinson Police Chief Rusty Smith.

"The recent vase theft is an unfortunate act of vandalism. We are currently in the process of determining the extent of the theft with the assistance of local police. We will be contacting all affected lot owners and offering a replacement vase at no charge" says Waco Memorial Park General Manager Doyle Ooten.
