Utility crews were dealing with two major water main breaks in Waco Saturday afternoon.
The first pipe sprung a leak in the 4700 block of Waco Drive Saturday morning, temporarily shutting down a few of the eastbound lanes of traffic. But, as crews worked to repair the initial problem, they shut off the main line, which put pressure on other lines.
That pressure caused a second break which flooded part of Lake Air Drive, only a few blocks away from the first leak. Lake Air Drive was completely shut down from Sanger Avenue to Tennyson Drive for a portion of the day.
"City employees are on the scene and working to restore services and most importantly, helping to keep our citizens safe," Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said in an afternoon statement.
It was unclear when the problem would be resolved.
