If you ask most Texans what our state food is, they’ll likely tell you barbecue. It’s wildly popular and people wait in long lines to get it. But since 1977, it’s chili that’s been our official state dish. On Verify, we decided to reopen the debate on what should be the State Food of Texas? So, we took a viewer on a 1500-mile road trip to determine, not which food tastes better.. but which is more important to the Lone Star State.
Our guest is Chef Chad Burnett. He teaches culinary arts to high school and college students and has cooked for 4 sitting presidents. Watch the video, above, to see what Chad decided.
To have your voice heard sign one of our Change.org petitions. Is it chili? Or is it barbecue? They’ll go directly to Texas lawmakers.
