Woman dies in Harker Heights house fire

An autopsy has been ordered and the origin of the fire and cause of death are still under investigation.

The Harker Heights Fire Marshal’s Office and the Harker Heights Police Department is investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman who was found Sunday morning in a home that caught on fire.

According to Harker Heights FD, around 11:31 a.m., first responders went to the 1700 block of Harley Drive about a structure fire.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

An autopsy has been ordered and the origin of the fire and cause of death are still under investigation.

The victim’s name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
