You've been warned: Extra officers will be out Friday to enforce move over, slow down law

Law enforcement agencies will be out in full force on local highways to enforce the move over, slow down law Friday.

Several law enforcement agencies in Central Texas will be participating in a special event at 7 a.m. Friday to promote the Move Over, Slow Down law, according to the Waco Police Department

Along with Waco Police, Robinson, Lorena, and many other departments will participate.

Under current law, drivers must slow down by 20 mph under the posted speed limit or move out of the lane they are in. The law was put in place to protect construction workers on Texas highways as well as first responders. Waco Police said there have been too many injuries caused by drivers not moving over.

Police said enforcement would be out Friday, and violators would be stopped.

Bell County did a similar operation on Feb. 1.
