NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC/KCEN) -- The Norfolk Police Department and the U.S. Navy were looking Thursday for a missing sailor, who was raised in Gatesville, Texas.

NCIS told KCEN sister-station WVEC that Gage Brady left the USS Wasp around 10:30 last Saturday night. Investigators said he told a friend he was going to pick up another friend, but he never returned.

Police said when they called Brady's cell phone, someone else answered, saying he found it outside a 7-Eleven in the Ocean View area of Norfolk. Subsequent calls to that phone have been unanswered.

Investigators also said someone used Brady's debit card in Kentucky and Missouri, and they're working with local law enforcement to help identify the person who used the card.

Brady was last seen driving his black 2011 Chevrolet Impala with either a Texas license plate or a Temporary Virginia State license plate.

Right now there's no indication of foul play, but anyone with information about Brady's whereabouts should call police. You can also send an anonymous text tip to NCIS at 274637 (CRIMES). Type "NCIS" at the beginning of the message.

Brady graduated from Gatesville High School in 2015, according to Gatesville ISD Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Marsha Worthington, who said Brady was "very involved" in one-act plays.

"He was a good student," Worthington said. "Had a really good personality. He was very dependable. I knew him all throughout school."

Brady's family still lives in Gatesville, according to Worthington.

In a Facebook post, Brady's mom Kathy said: "My family has been riding a hellish roller coaster since Monday afternoon when we learned Gage was missing. The end isn't in sight yet but, the love, prayers, and concern we've experienced from literally thousands of people are appreciated more than we can say."

Brady's family told KCEN-TV he is an undesignated airman in the Navy. His end goal is to become a Navy Seal, they said.
