(KCEN) -- Week three of the government shutdown causes more local problems.

Troops missing out on tuition assistance at CTC have now officially lost a semester.

The next 8-week term at Central Texas College begins this week or next week.

Even if the shutdown ended today, it would be too late to apply for tuition assistance.

It was cut off on Oct. 1 when the government shut down.

That means military students can't get approval for new semesters and have to either stop their educations or pay out of their own pockets.

CTC's chancellor says the term is not recoverable, costing tens of thousands of military members their futures.
