FRISCO, Texas - A big topic is the Big XII championship game which returns for the first time since 2010.

It finally gives the conference that 13th game which cost Baylor a potential trip to the playoffs in 2014.

December 2, 2017 is a date Big XII football fans have had circled on their calendars for six years. For the first time since Oklahoma toppled Nebraska to win the 2010 Big XII, the conference is set to send two teams to a 13th game and the conference favorite is used to the spotlight.

There has been argument about the game knocking out a potential national title contender.

Commissioner Bob Bowlsby is confident that won’t be the case as the Big XII will have the only conference title game featuring the top two teams regardless of division.

It’s an argument which coaches are on board with including Oklahoma Football Coach Lincoln Riley and TCU Football Coach Gary Patterson.

“Our best teams, on the last chance, the last week of the season get to make their case or whatever for the playoff are going to be playing each other on a big stage,” Riley said.

Patterson said you have to have your last two teams playing.

“And everyone says ‘well, that’s going to be tough, yeah, it is but it doesn’t matter,” Patterson said. “You’re just trying to get to that point.”
