Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team grabbed a 6-3 decision over Texas Lutheran University Tuesday night in Belton. The win improves the Cru to 18-9 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 22-11.

Justin Dingman and Will Stafford hit back-to-back RBI singles to give the Cru a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the second. Dingman later scored off a passed ball by the Bulldogs to give the Cru three-run lead after two innings and followed that with a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the fourth, forcing a TLU error and scoring Tripp Reeves from second. Dakota Parsons also drove in a run with a single up the middle, followed by a sacrifice hit by Zach Whiddon to give UMHB another three-run inning for a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs added three runs in the top of the sixth to cut UMHB's lead to three. Neither team was able to score in the final three innings, solidifying the Cru's 6-3 win.

Dingman and Reeves led the Cru with two hits each while Dingman added a team-high two RBI and two runs. Chase Burrow and Cole Hill also recorded runs for the Cru. Six pitchers saw time on the mound for UMHB, combining for nine strikeouts. Gunner Vaught earned his first start of the season, going four innings with two strikeouts, no runs and three hits allowed. Aaron Barteau earned the save, striking out three batters and allowing two hits in the bottom of the ninth. UMHB totaled six runs on six hits with one error while the Bulldogs had three runs on 10 hits with two errors.

UMHB will return to action this weekend at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. UMHB will open the series with a 7 p.m. game against the Cowboys on Friday, April 11th at 7 p.m.
