The Texas Department of Transportation will close portions of State Highway 6 in McLennan County for resurfacing work beginning June 12 and continuing through June 30.
Authorities said the work would take place Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. And, drivers should expect delays.
Construction contractors will remove several inches of the existing highway surface along roughly 10 miles of Highway 6 between Bagby Avenue and FM 185.
"On and off ramps will occasionally be closed during this project, both to prevent drivers from entering active work zones or milled areas, and as the ramps themselves are re-paved in the final portion of the project," TxDOT Spokesperson Jodi Wheatley said.
Wheatley said Waco's Twin Bridges are not part of this project, but the current lane closures on the bridges would continue as part of a separate bridge repair project.
"TxDOT strongly encourages drivers to be alert for construction personnel and equipment in the work areas," Wheatley said.
