Former Killeen ISD middle school teacher stabbed to death, police say

The Lampasas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a former Killeen ISD middle school teacher, whose autopsy revealed he had suffered numerous stab and cut wounds.

Harold Francis Leate, Jr., 66, was found lying dead in the front yard of his rural home in the 200 block of County Road 3355 near Kempner around 3:19 p.m. on Nov. 3 after someone telephoned authorities with a crime tip about a "possible homicide,"  according to the Lampasas County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators suspected foul play from the start and worked overnight to process the crime scene that day, investigators aid.

According to Killeen ISD, Leate taught at Nolan Middle School from 1996 until 2017. Before that, he briefly taught in Killeen ISD's Middle Level Learning Center from March until May of 1996.

Leate was certified to teach history and life science, a Killeen ISD spokesperson said.

There was no immediate word on whether law enforcement had located any suspects.
