Killeen Police identify young man in Monday homicide

Killeen Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead.

KILLEEN - UPDATE: (4/19/17): Killeen Police identified the victim in an April 17 homicide as Justin Lewis, 19.

Original Story:

A man, believed to be in his late teens or twenties, was found dead in Killeen late Monday night.

Police called his death a homicide, and they said they found him in the 700 block of W. Avenue C, shortly after they were dispatched to a report of shots fired near a vacant lot at 11:18 p.m. Police Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said she could not confirm whether or not the victim himself was shot -- or how he died.

He was officially pronounced dead at 12:34 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. And, an autopsy was pending, as of Tuesday morning.
