Law enforcement investigates alleged misconduct by Coolidge High School employee

A Coolidge high school employee is on administrative leave following reports of alleged misconduct.

The Coolidge Independent School District confirmed Tuesday that it had received a report that alleged unspecified misconduct by an employee at Coolidge High School on Monday.

The district immediately put the employee on administrative leave, launched an investigation, and contacted law enforcement according to Superintendent Robert Lowry.

Lowry said the safety of staff and students was a top priority. He released the below statement on the matter.

“When allegations of this nature arise, our policy is to place the subject employee on administrative leave so that the District may conduct a thorough and objective investigation. Our District has taken necessary steps to ensure that student learning continues without disruption in a safe environment. CISD has assigned a qualified substitute to meet the obligations of the suspended employee. We appreciate the efforts of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department which is working closely with our District. However, because there is an ongoing investigation, further comment is not appropriate at this time.”

Channel 6 left a message for the Limestone County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. We will update this story if we learn more from law enforcement. At the time of the initial announcement by the school district, the nature of the allegations had not been publicly released.
