Killeen police identify victim in 7-eleven shooting, suspect arrested

UPDATE***

Killeen police have identified the victim shot behind the 7-Eleven convenience store as 29-year-old Travis James Granger of Killeen.

Police said through investigation, they were able to identify the suspect as 27-year-old Keith Louis Marinnie of Killeen.

KPD said they found and arrested Marinnie at approximately 8:20 pm at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Old FM 440 Road.

He was booked into the Killeen City Jail.

The case continues to be under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY

A man is dead after being shot in the woods behind the 7-Eleven convenience store at 1219 S. Fort Hood Street in Killeen at 9:23 a.m. Friday.

Killeen Police Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said someone called 911 to report a "shooting victim with injuries."

When officers arrived, they found the male victim critically injured with a gunshot wound, though police did not say where he was shot.The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to Metroplex Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:08 a.m.

Miramontez said she was unaware of any arrests or suspects, as of early Friday afternoon.

Police are asking for help finding the person responsible. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477 or submit a tip online by clicking here. All tips are anonymous. If your tip leads to the arrest of the shooter, you could be paid a cash reward of up to $1,000.
