A high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended with a crash on State Highway 317 near where it meets FM 439 in Belton Friday afternoon.

The Department of Public Safety said two 16-year-old juveniles were in a pickup truck that was listed as stolen out of Killeen. A trooper got behind the vehicle and attempted to pull it over around 1:19 p.m along FM 439, approximately two miles east of the intersection with Sparta Road.

But, the juveniles evaded the trooper and drove along FM 439 into Belton, eventually losing control at 317 and crashing into three vehicles that were sitting at the intersection, according to DPS.

There were no injuries, according to troopers.

Both juveniles tried to run away, but they were captured and taken to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Facility, according to DPS.

According to Facebook posts by people claiming to have witnessed the chase, the suspect's vehicle reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

The driver has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading, evading with vehicle and failed to stop and render aid.  The passenger has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading and failed to stop and render aid.

DPS wants to remind motorists of the importance to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles and drive defensively in order to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

CORRECTION: DPS initially said the chase ended in a parking lot. Video footage appeared to dispute that claim.
