Police: Man confesses to killing Texas A&M student

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder after police say he confessed to shooting a Texas A&M student several times.

 

Victor Garcia-Loyo of Del Valle, Texas, was arrested at a home in Forth Worth on Sunday. According to police, he was in a relationship with the victim, who has been identified as Maricarmen Quiroz-Octaviano, 21, of College Station. 

 

Investigators setup an interview with Garcia-Loyo shortly after the murder but he never arrived at the police station. Authorities were able to track his phone which led them to the Forth Worth area. 

 

During a search, investigators found Quiroz-Octaviano's driver's license and a 9mm handgun. Garcia-Loyo also appeared to have a gunshot wound to his hand. 

 

Garcia-Loyo is currently in the Brazos County Jail. No bond has been set at this time. 

 

Quiroz-Octaviano is a senior genetics major at Texas A&M, according to the school's student directory.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- A 21-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment  on Saturday just before 8:00 p.m.

Police are currently investigating on what led to the murder of Maricarmen Quiroz-Octaviano at the Scandia Apartments.

During the investigation, a source told police that the murder was a result of a domestic dispute.
