A shooting suspect was taken into custody Wednesday after leading authorities on a chase through Bosque and Hill Counties.
The Bosque County Sheriff's Office identified the man as William Ray Tharpe Jr. and said he had shot another man in the area of Lakeside Village on Wednesday. The victim was transported to the hospital.
Deputies located Tharpe driving north on SH 174. A deputy attempted to stop him for questioning. But, he led them on a chase until he crashed on a rural road in Hill County, law enforcement said. He got out and was eventually found after a long search, deputies said.
The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office, Clifton Police Department, Texas Game Wardens, Hill County Sheriff’s Office and Texas High Patrol were all involved in the chase.
