Two boys shot in connection with robbery in Killeen, police say

Channel 6 news reporter Kurtis Quillin reports.

Two teen boys were shot just before 9 p.m. Friday in connection with a robbery in Killeen, police said.

Killeen Police Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said the older of the two boys -- a 15 year old -- was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple in critical condition, while the younger one, age 14, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Police said they first found the victims within a couple blocks of each other in the general area of E. Rancier Avenue and N 38th Street.

Based on the initial police investigation, the shooting appeared to have been motivated by a robbery, Miramontez said. But, Killeen Police did not immediately release any specific details about the nature of the robbery.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested as the suspect in the shooting, Miramontez said. But, she did not release his name and only stated he was being held at the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center.
