(KCEN) - The clock is ticking in Washington.
The government shuts down in just eight days unless Congress agrees on a bill to fund federal agencies.
On Friday, the House passed a bill to keep the government going until the middle of December which has also cut off funding for Obamacare.
Senator Ted Cruz appeared on Fox News Sunday morning and said that Republicans need to stick together and do everything they can to prevent Democrats from adding back funding to Obamacare. He hopes that this fight will not result in a government shutdown.
"I don't want the government to shut down, the American people don't, and I don't think they should shut down the government. If that happens, if Harry Reid kills this bill in it the Senate, I think the House should hold it's ground and start passing smaller resolutions one department at a time," said Senator Ted Cruz.
Cruz also said that using a filibuster to block consideration on any bill in the Senate is not out of the question.
