Ellis Island Re-opens

(KCEN) -- Ellis Island is set to reopen almost a year after superstorm Sandy tore through the northeast.

The national park sustained severe damage during the storm when eight feet of water flooded the island.

The historic tourist destination has undergone extensive renovations and storm proofing over the past year.

Only the buildings and halls will be open to the public for now, until artifacts that had to be placed in storage can be returned to the museum.
