Fake H-E-B workers beat employee, rob store

HOUSTON - Two men dressed as H-E-B workers beat an employee during a robbery at a grocery store in southwest Houston.

It happened at the H-E-B in the 5400 block of S. Braeswood late May 21.

On Thursday, Houston Police released surveillance video of the robbery in hopes that someone will recognize the men involved and offer clues that will lead to arrests.

The video shows both suspects entering the store wearing red H-E-B hoodies just after 10:30 p.m.

According to HPD, the suspects managed to enter the main office after another employee mistook them for actual workers. One suspect threatened the employee with a pistol and then assaulted him while the other suspect took money from the safe. The robbers also took the victim's cell phone.

Both suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The suspects are described only as black males, 20 to 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds. Both wore red HEB hoodies and red baseball caps. One suspect wore red Adidas shoes and the other had braids.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
