(KCEN) -- A Florida pastor was arrested Wednesday on his way to burn nearly 3,000 Korans.
Terry Jones and his associate pastor, Wayne Sapp were pulled over in Polk County, Florida towing a smoker.
Jones was headed to a nearby park where he told cops he planned to burn about 3,000 copies of the Koran, one for every person who died on September 11.
Cops say Jones was encouraged to exercise is First Amendment rights, but he was warned against burning Korans because he did not have a permit.
Jones' church has famously staged Koran burnings in the past.
