Food Stamp Cuts

(KCEN) --- Food stamp benefits will be cut, the temporary provision expires Nov. 1.

Five billion dollars in cuts will mean less money for groceries for some 47 million people, or nearly 15% of the population of people who rely on food stamps.

Experts say it's highly unlikely that congress will put a stop to the cuts especially before the holiday season.

Food stamp benefits were bumped up in the midst of the recession.
