(KCEN) – Hundreds of families across Central Texas are taking advantage of their extended Labor Day weekend and hitting the local lakes and parks.
On Sunday Frank's Marina in Belton was filled with boaters, jet skiers, and tubers. "Labor Day weekend is a little busier than most. We see a lot of families who like to get out here and enjoy the water. We definitely see more activity here in the store," Frank's Marina employee Daniel Holman said.
Temple Lake Park was also a hit as the shorelines became crowded with families firing up the grills and having a few drinks with family and friends. "We're just trying to enjoy the day," Russell Daigle said as he watched his daughter play at the lake.
Labor Day is always the first Monday of September, and was made into a national holiday more than 100 years ago to allow millions of working American's to enjoy an extra day off as their summer comes to an end.
