1st Cav takes part in annual spur run

Chris Rogers reports.

FORT HOOD - Boots hit the ground today on Fort Hood Wednesday, for an age old tradition, unlike any other in the military.

The First Cavalry Division Air Cavalry Brigade took part in the annual spur ride today, an initiation ritual, that breaks in rookie soldiers by pushing them to their limit both physically and mentally with a series of challenges designed to strengthen team work and problem solving

"With what we do as war fighters, you have to be able to to trust your battle buddy." Said Lieutenant Colonel Tim Mcgrew.

Forty four men and women took part in the grueling test, as they worked to get ammunition boxes, barrels and other items across tedious walkways and avoid falling into the frigid water below.
