WACO - Last month, Channel 6 shared the story of Waco Midway Boy's Varsity Soccer Coach Patrick Posey.
In May 2017, doctors discovered a mass on his brain that was eventually determined to be a tumor. He was diagnosed with level four glioblastoma, a cancer that originates in the brain. Posey is now completing an intensive course of chemotherapy and radiation.
The community has banned together to help Posey with his fight against cancer.
In efforts to fundraise for the Temple High School alumnus, a 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run Walk has been set up in his honor. Members of the community are encouraged to register and participate in Posey's Grey Matters 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk Saturday August 5 at Midway High School, located at 8200 Mars Drive, Woodway, Texas.
The 5K race costs $30 to register and will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 1-mile fun run costs $20 to register and will start at 8:30 a.m. Kids 12 years old and under can register for $15 for either race.
Registration ends August 3 at 11:59 p.m.
