BELLMEAD -- Baylor Football players handed out free summer lunches to children Tuesday at Brame Park in Bellmead, where they also encouraged kids to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise.
The event was a function of Baylor's Texas Hunger Initiative -- a collaborative project that works to end hunger through education, research, community-oriented action, and policy-making. The organization teamed up with La Vega ISD for Tuesday's outreach effort.
“It just makes you happy to be able to give," Baylor Football Offensive Lineman Mo Porter said. "Me, personally, there was a lot of things I didn’t have. I was one of those kids who needed help with meal programs like this in the summer, so it actually feels good to be able to do what others couldn’t do for me.”
