Bellmead man accused of decapitating wife denied plea deal

WACO - A man charged with the capital murder of his wife will get a trial after a judge in McLennan County decided not to accept a plea deal, according to a courthouse source.

Davie Dauzat, was going to plead guilty Thursday, which would have resulted in a 50 year sentence.  He would have been eligible for parole in 25 years.

By not allowing the plea deal, District Judge Matt Johnson put the case on the path toward a trial.

If Dauzat is convicted and receives a life sentence, he will be eligible for parole in 30 years.

Dauzat was arrested August 25, 2016 after police say he killed his wife and put her head in the freezer in their home.  Their two children were home at the time.

The couple had lived in Bellmead since moving from Louisiana two years earlier.
