Central Texans help East Texas tornado victims

Emani Payne reports.

Central Texans are working together to help the victims of the East Texas tornadoes.

Lampasas resident Donny Krasniqi gathered 90 cases of water, food and clothing donations in his community -- in one day -- and personally drove them to Canton Monday.

"I know how it is to lose everything," he said. "So, from the bottom of my heart, I'm going over there today to just help those people however we can."

Krasniqi lost everything in the Kosovo War in the 90s. He said the U.S. helped his home country rebuild, and now he wants to return the favor.

This past weekend's tornadoes killed four and injured dozens, according to The Red Cross, which is helping victims. The organization said more than 200 Texans stayed in Red Cross shelters Sunday.

Channel Six News is teaming up with The Red Cross and our parent company TEGNA to help the tornado victims through a campaign called 'Texas Cares.' You can learn more about the campaign and make a tax-deductible donation by clicking here.
