City of Temple mistakenly activates outdoor warning sirens

TEMPLE - Outdoor warning sirens were mistakenly activated by the City of Temple early Sunday morning.

Temple Fire & Rescue later apologized on Facebook, clarifying no tornado warning had been issued at the time the sirens sounded.

Channel 6 Meteorologists were monitoring potential severe thunderstorms Sunday, offering the latest updates on the KCEN-TV Facebook page.

A Tornado Watch was put in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday for Anderson, Bell, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Henderson, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Milam and Robertson Counties -- in addition to Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Rains, and Van Zandt in North Texas.
