This Saturday the Temple Fire and Rescue with the Rotary Club of Temple South will visit a northern area of Temple to offer free smoke alarm checks to residents.
The area covered will be from Alamo Court to Erath Drive, including Monticello Rd. Temple Fire and Rescue estimate the will get to around 60 doors in the morning. The Rotary Club and the Fire & Rescue want to stress the importance of having a working smoke and fire alarm in peoples house offering new free alarms for those without or that have become outdated.
An inspection will include checking existing alarms, checking there location within the house, and leaving an informational pack on fire safety for the home. A total of 24 homes were checked last year and 20 of the homes did not have working units. Both groups will be canvassing the neighborhoods April 8th between 8:30am to noon.
